Description:
We describe implementation of the Healthcare Can Change From Within (HCCFW) model for helping health care systems make sustained improvements in intimate partner violence identification, intervention and prevention. We discuss the model’s theoretical background and describe program implementation including challenges encountered. We present outcome data including changes in provider attitudes and behavior, clinical quality improvement, and system-level changes in trauma sensitivity. We also present preliminary longitudinal data on victim health, wellbeing, social support, community connectedness and violence recurrence.
