Description:
Although most women eventually leave their abusive partners, little is known about factors that shape women's health in the early years after leaving. Using data from a community sample of 309 women who had left an abusive partner up to 3 years previously, we tested a series of models using structural equation modeling techniques in order to identify the mechanisms by which past ongoing abuse affects women's current health. Implications for promoting women’s health will be discussed.
