This promising practice works with the phase one data from the funded Relationships and PTSD Study: Detection of Intimate Partner Violence grant to educate health care providers in how to assess for IPV perpetration and dangerousness, document clearly in the medical record, and respond to health consequences and safety concerns appropriately. Working with the documentation gaps found in this study, health care professionals will be coached on determining risk factors (e.g. homicide) beyond the immediate concerns of the patient.
