Description:
The overlap of intimate partner violence (IPV) and child abuse in families has been well documented. The challenges of this co-occurrence are particularly difficult in the work of hospital-based Child Protection Teams. This presentation describes the Child Protection Team at Boston Medical Center and strategies for incorporating knowledge of IPV into the team’s functions. This practice has increased knowledge of IPV and changed practice in terms of reporting child abuse/neglect. A case presentation illustrating these principles will be included.
