Description:
Over the past three years, community and academic researchers from the Alliance of Canadian Research Centres on Violence have been conducting a national participatory action study on violence in the lives of girls. This presentation will include an overview of the research, situating girls in Canada within a national and international framework. Innovative approaches to explore how girls understand and experience violence, as well as strategies of resistance, will be described, with particular attention to issues of power and voice.
