Description:
In the past twenty years research has focused on determining the developmental aftereffects for children exposed to domestic violence. Much remains to be learned regarding the affirmative aspects of recovery for women who during childhood witnessed their mothers being abused (Humphreys, 2001). The study’s two research questions included: (1) How do adult daughters perceive their recovery from childhood exposure to domestic violence? 2) What posttraumatic growth, if any, do they distinguish as a result of overcoming their childhood adversity?
