Friday, October 9, 2009: 1:25 PM-2:45 PM
Gallier A/B (Sheraton New Orleans Hotel)
Speaker:
Jennifer L. White, JD, Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund

Description:
Faculty will begin with a discussion of the health impact of elder abuse. Next, faculty will lead an interactive exercise on a case, “Verbalee.” This exercise deconstructs Verbalee’s experience of domestic abuse in later life as she navigated various systems. Participants role-play different systems players and must determine what interventions each would have initiated at various intervals. Faculty and participants will discuss how each system’s response could have improved through cross-system collaboration. Finally, faculty will present on effective collaboration models.
