Description:
This symposium will review studies on gender-based violence that have included measures of gender attitudes and sexual norms. The focus will be on how gender attitudes and sexual norms are associated with increased sexual risk and poor health outcomes, the utility of these assessments in considering common sources of both IPV and sexual risk, and for content of programs targeting perpetration prevention and sexual risk reduction. Measures used in these studies will be examined, and directions for future research identified.
