Description:
In one of the largest population-based studies of help-seeking among women who experience intimate partner violence (IPV), we found that 39% sought help from a professional source following their most recent incident of IPV. Over 70% sought help from a mental health professional, yet far fewer from a hotline or doctor/nurse. Help-seeking was more common among older women living in urban or rural (vs. suburban) counties. We discuss the policy implications of these findings.
