Description:
This study was planned to understand spouse directed violence and the family interaction pattern in wives of alcoholics when compared to a matched group of wives with non-alcoholic male partners. The conflict tactics scale (CTS2) by Straus and Gelles (1990) and the family interaction pattern scale (FIPS-Bhatti et al., 1986) were the instruments administered. The findings indicate a higher prevalence of conflict and poorer interactional pattern across several domains in the alcohol complicated dyads than in the reference group.
