Description:
Third author, Deborah L. Brimlow Ph.D., is a public health consultant in Houston, TX. There is a need for dental students to learn how to respond to victims of domestic violence, which was intensified at our school when one of the students was shot to death by her husband. We used the AVDR tutorial to educate first year dental students about how to recognize and work with victims, followed by small group discussion. Students wrote reflection papers after the class.
