Speaker:
Elizabeth Speakman, LICSW, Massachusetts General Hospital

Presentation Format:
Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report

Description:
This session will discuss the use of mindfulness based strategies in counseling DV survivors. These strategies can be used to assist DV survivors with safety planning, reducing anxiety, increasing self-confidence and identifying risk in the relationship. Mindfulness practice has been shown to decrease many of the physical and emotional health problems often experienced by survivors of DV. An outline for facilitating a workshop on Mindfulness and Domestic Violence will be provided for participants to bring back to their agencies.
