Female genital mutilation (FGM) is considered an act of violence against women and an abuse of girl children.FGM can cause irreparable harm to health.The number of women and girls affected by FGM in the UK and elsewhere is increasing.This presentation provides information on context, course design,what clinicians wanted at the start of the programme, clinical experiences in a bespoke clinic and assessment of practitioners.In addition, challenges and lessons learned will be provided.
