Description:
This cross-sectional study reports the experiences of 130 abuse victims surveyed in antenatal, substance abuse and mental health services 4-9 months after screening. The study evaluates a standardised screening protocol used with all presenting female patients in these programs in one state in Australia. 22% of women reported that they disclosed the abuse for the first time, 80% of those given information read it, 42% were referred to a service,47% report positive changes in attitudes since being screened.
