Description:
This qualitative descriptive study explores how relationship dynamics, including IPV, influence HIV risk and the implications for IPV and HIV risk reduction practices. Recruiting from an urban clinic setting, in-depth interviews were conducted with 30 African-American young women (18-25 years old). Findings describe several pathways by which intimate partner violence (IPV) leads to HIV/STI risks for young African-American women and identify prevention opportunities.
