Description:
The design of choice for testing the effectiveness of healthcare interventions is the randomised controlled trial (RCT). In this session we will present the processes and outcomes of the New Zealand WISE trial. 399 women £ 16 years seeking emergency department care were entered in a single blinded RCT comparing brief partner violence screen and intervention with usual care; 344 (86%) women were contacted for a three month follow-up visit during which health, relationship and violence outcomes were assessed.
