Description:
We identified 45 women hospitalized with heart disease and measured the relationship between a history of abuse and symptoms of depression and PTSD and analyzed the relationship at 3- and 6-months. Sixty-nine percent of the women reported abuse. Women with heart disease who reported a history of abuse also reported more symptoms of depression (p=0.004) and PTSD (p=0.004) that are maintained for 6 months compared to women with heart disease who do not report abuse.
